Welcome to Fairlington
Fairlington is a unique and historically significant community conveniently located just five minutes from downtown Washington, DC. The community was constructed for defense workers and their families by order of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in response to the DC housing shortage brought on by World War II. Nowadays, there are still hundreds of government workers who purchase Fairlington condos for sale.
There are actually 7 different parts of Fairlington. The areas include Fairlington Glen, Fairlington Villages, Fairlington Commons, Fairlington Green, Fairlington Meadows, Fairlington Mews, and Fairlington Arbor. There are 29 different floor plans including 2 and 3 level townhoms and 1 - 3 bedroom units.
Within the confines of Fairlington, there are several commercial buildings that house local businesses such as health care service providers (dentist, physical therapy, chiropractic, etc.) and business offices (real estate, law, patent services, etc.) that cater to local residents and the broader community. Adjacent to Fairlington, The Village at Shirlington, provides restaurants, stores (shops), bars (pubs), a theater (theatre), a cinema, and the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Trail trailhead within walking distance for North Fairlington residents. South Fairlington residents are connected to Shirlington by a pedestrian walkway that crosses the Shirlington Circle interchange with I-395.
